Our Story

Eadha began selling bread at farmers markets and through a Bread Share in July 2016. In May 2018, we opened our storefront at 577 Ellice Ave — a space that lets us hire staff, expand our menu, and deepen our connection to the neighbourhood.

What We Stand For

Eadha is a place for connection — with each other, ourselves, our food, and the places and people it all comes from. Food, at its best, is a slow, intentional act of care.

Queer & Anti-Racist

We are a queer-led bakery committed to dismantling racism, homophobia, and the gender binary myth in our workplace and community.

Decolonial Practice

We strive toward land reparations and centering Indigenous voices, recognizing that our work happens on stolen land.

Living Wages

We believe quality employment means fair pay, dignity, and conditions that support the whole person — not just productivity.

Community Collaboration

We are open to working with community groups who share our values. Reach out if you have an idea for partnership.

Our Bread

Every loaf is made by hand with organic local flours, naturally leavened and fermented for 18+ hours. This slow process increases flavour, digestibility, and nutritional value — and it demands that we stay alert to the process as much as the product.

Bread baking has shown itself to be as much about staying present as it is about enjoying what comes out of the oven. When you know the person who made your bread, you taste the difference.

Our journey with naturally leavened bread began with a simple conviction: that good bread takes time. Every loaf we bake is crafted by hand using organic, locally sourced flours, then fermented for eighteen hours or more to develop deep flavour, improve digestibility, and unlock greater nutritional value. This patient approach is at the heart of everything we do, from the careful mixing of the dough to the long, slow rise that transforms simple ingredients into something truly nourishing. We believe that the rhythms of fermentation mirror the rhythms of community—both require time, attention, and care to flourish.

From our earliest days selling at farmers markets and through our Bread Share program, we have been guided by a commitment to connection—with each other, with ourselves, with our food, and with the people and places it all comes from. Opening our storefront in Winnipeg's West End allowed us to deepen those relationships, bringing neighbours together around a shared appreciation for honest, handcrafted food. We see baking as a slow, intentional act of care, and we carry that sensibility into every aspect of our work, from sourcing ingredients to the way we welcome people through our doors.

Our team works with love and dedication, treating each bake day as an opportunity to serve our community well. We understand that life is busy, and we do our best to make pickup and delivery as straightforward as possible while honouring the craft that goes into every loaf. Though we occasionally operate with a skeleton crew and adjust our public pickup schedule, we remain committed to reducing waste and responding to special requests whenever feasible. If you have questions about our bread, our schedule, or our workshops, please reach out—we would love to hear from you.
